The Thirteenth issue of the Asian Mayors Forum Activity Report highlights the Forum’s key activities and international engagements from January to March 2026.
During this period, AMF continued to strengthen cooperation among Asian cities through international dialogue, urban diplomacy, and initiatives focused on inclusive and sustainable urban development. The Forum also expanded its engagement with member cities, including welcoming Qom as a new member and proposing Ramsar as the host of the International Working Group on Coastal and Port Cities.
Women’s participation and youth empowerment remained important areas of AMF’s activities. The webinar “Leading Women in Science and the Future of Public Decision-making” brought together experts to discuss women’s role in policymaking, the importance of science-based decision-making, and the need for more inclusive participation at local and international levels. AMF also concluded its 8th Internship Program and launched its 9th cohort, continuing its efforts to equip young people with professional skills and opportunities for engagement in urban diplomacy.
The report further highlights AMF’s capacity-building initiatives, including workshops on organizational behavior, communication, teamwork, emotional intelligence, conflict management, and professional conduct. Interns also took part in practical media-production activities, strengthening their communication and teamwork skills.
A major section of this issue presents the Asian Capitals Activity Report 2025, focusing on the three thematic areas of urban tourism, culture, and environment. The report features Isfahan as Asian Capital of Tourism 2025, Kermanshah as Asian Capital of Culture 2025, Tabriz as Asian Capital of Environment 2025, and Antalya as Asian Capital of Environment 2025, highlighting their initiatives, achievements, international engagement, and approaches to sustainable urban development.
The issue also records AMF’s official statement concerning the conflict involving Iran, reflecting the Forum’s position on sovereignty, territorial integrity, and peace.
