The eleventh issue of the Asian Mayors Forum Activity Report highlights AMF’s key activities and international engagements from July to September 2025. During this period, AMF continued to strengthen urban cooperation across Asia through cultural programs, international partnerships, youth initiatives, and expert meetings addressing major urban and environmental challenges. The 8th Urmia Grape Festival brought together Asian diplomats and highlighted the cultural and tourism capacities of the city, while AMF also supported the participation of an Iranian youth delegation in the BRICS Youth Festival in Kazan, where the team achieved a bronze medal in the Mathematics and Programming Olympiad.
The report also focuses on urban resilience and sustainable development. AMF organized and participated in expert discussions on local economies and sustainable cities, sand and dust storms, digital twins and urban simulation, and the role of local governments in responding to environmental and urban crises. The Forum also expanded its international cooperation through engagement with the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), the signing of a twinning agreement between Urmia and Şanlıurfa, and continued cooperation with cities and organizations in the region.
This issue further highlights AMF’s commitment to youth, women, culture, and peace. The Forum hosted a Peace Day program centered on cooperation and collective action, continued its Women’s Network activities, and addressed the humanitarian and urban impacts of conflict through statements and discussions on urban resilience in wartime. The report also features the appointment of Urmia as the Secretariat of AMF’s Committee on Urban Economy and Entrepreneurship, support for Khoy’s international cooperation initiatives, recognition of Khorramabad’s UNESCO World Heritage inscription, and capacity-building activities for AMF interns, including protocol training and international engagement programs.
