Mayor: Fatma Shahin
Fatma Şahin (born 1966) is a Turkish engineer and politician.
She was the only female minister in the third cabinet of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (2011-2013) and was elected the as the first female mayor of Gaziantep in 2014.
Gaziantep is a major city and the capital of the Gaziantep Province in southeastern Turkey, situated near the Sacirsuyu River.
With a history dating back to the early 4th millennium BCE, the city used to be a strategic trade hub due to its location.
The city is an economic center for Southeastern and Eastern Turkey, housing the largest organized industrial area in Turkey.
Gaziantep is a major center for Syrian refugees and foreign students. The city was significantly damaged by the 2023 Turkey–Syria earthquake.
Gaziantep was the 5th Term President of AMF.
