Zeydan Karalar, born in 1958, is a graduate of Mechanical Engineering. He was first elected as Mayor of Adana Metropolitan Municipality in 2019 and re-elected in 2024. He has previously served in numerous political positions including Mayor of Seyhan, Co-Chair of the Social Inclusion Committee of the World Union of Municipalities, and first deputy president of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye.

Adana is the capital city of Adana Province in south-central Turkey and is situated on Seyhan River.
Adana is Turkey’s fourth largest city and the biggest one in the Mediterranean Region of the country.

Adana, deeply-rooted in the history, plays a pivotal role in the Mediterranean Region of Turkey, serving as a center for trade. Cotton and textile industry, agricultural products and logistics account for a big part of its economy.
