The twelfth issue of the Asian Mayors Forum Activity Report highlights AMF’s key activities and international engagements from October to December 2025.
During this period, the Forum played a central role in the Tehran Urban Summit 2025, bringing together city leaders, urban experts, and international partners. The Summit featured the 7th General Assembly and 11th Executive Board Meeting of AMF, the Urban Leaders Summit, the 2nd Twin Cities Meeting, and the 6th Tehran Golden Adobe Global Award. The Executive Board also handed over the Forum’s rotating presidency to Tehran and announced the Asian Capitals of Culture, Tourism, and Environment for 2026.
The report also highlights AMF’s continued focus on urban resilience, environmental challenges, and crisis management. Webinars and expert discussions addressed urban resilience in wartime, the environmental consequences of conflict, and pathways for the recovery of war-affected cities. AMF also advanced efforts to document environmental destruction and promote international cooperation on urban and environmental challenges.
Youth, culture, and city diplomacy remained important areas of activity. Iranian youth participated in the BRICS Youth Festival in Kazan, with an Iranian participant winning a bronze medal in the mathematics competition. AMF also supported cultural diplomacy initiatives, including the “Vietnam: Timeless Beauty and Vitality” exhibition, while continuing its work with youth and women through international forums and educational programs.
This issue further covers the expansion of AMF’s city-to-city cooperation, including the Khoy–Konya twinning agreement, the MoU with South Korea’s Andong, engagement with Sri Lankan mayors, and cooperation with Yerevan. The Forum also welcomed new member cities and strengthened its collaboration with urban networks and institutions.
The report also features AMF’s capacity-building activities, including international correspondence training, strategic thinking programs for interns, and initiatives supporting professional development and international engagement.
