The 11th Executive Board Meeting of the Asian Mayors Forum was held on November 27, 2025 in Tehran.
The meeting, organized within the framework of the “Tehran Urban Summit 2025” and attended by Executive Board members, began with a speech by the representative of the city of Dushanbe as the Forum’s rotating president, along with the reading of a message from the city’s mayor. The Secretary-General of the Forum Hamidereza Gholamzadeh then presented a brief report on the its activities over the past year and its upcoming plans. Afterwards, candidates for several organizational positions were reviewed and put to a vote.
Through this voting process, Tehran was elected as the new term president of the Forum, while Shiraz and Dushanbe were selected as vice-president cities. Khorramabad was chosen to chair the Committee on Culture and Urban Tourism, and Gorgan was elected as the secretary of the Committee on Livability and Resilience. The Tehran Disaster Prevention and Management Organization was also retained in its position as the President of the Committee on Livability and Resilience.
During this meeting, Dushanbe was designated the Cultural Capital, Baghdad the Tourism Capital, and Dubai the Environmental Capital of Asia for the year 2026. It is noteworthy that earlier, during a session held on the sidelines of the COP30 in Brazil, the Asian Mayors Forum had also announced Gaza—on a special basis—as the Environmental Capital of Asia, aiming to draw global attention to the environmental devastation and ecocide by the Israeli regime there.
The 10th Executive Board Meeting of the Asian Mayors Forum had been held in September 2024 at Milad Tower.
