Iranmbc is a specialized body composed of the mayors of Iran’s metropolitan cities. It aims to strengthen cooperation and coordination among urban administrations, facilitate the exchange of experiences, address common urban challenges, and develop joint solutions for sustainable urban development. The Assembly was established on October 6, 1999, in Mashhad, and in 2006 its Secretariat was relocated to Tehran following the approval of its member mayors.
Serving as a platform for dialogue and collaboration among Iran’s metropolitan municipalities, the Assembly works on issues such as urban governance, transportation, environmental management, urban economy, public services, and sustainable development. In the absence of a national municipal association, it plays a significant role in promoting cooperation and coordination among the country’s major cities.
