Mayor: Abolghasem Mohieddini

Abolghasem Mohieddini holds a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Construction and Project Management. Prior to serving as Mayor of Yazd, he held several senior positions in public administration and urban management, including Mayor of Taft, Managing Director of the Yazd Province Municipalities Cooperation Organization, and Head of the Urban Development and Regeneration Organization of Yazd Municipality.

Yazd is one of Iran’s major cities and the capital of Yazd Province, located in the center of the country.

With a history dating back centuries, Yazd has long been a favored place for human settlement. The city is internationally renowned as the world’s first adobe city and the City of Windcatchers. Owing to its remarkable historic architecture and exceptionally well-preserved traditional urban fabric, Yazd became the first and only city in Iran to be inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Yazd is also an important industrial center, with manufacturing and mining playing a significant role in its economy. Home to one of the largest Zoroastrian communities in Iran, the city is a cultural and historical landmark as well as a popular destination for domestic and international tourists.
