Shahrekord is the capital of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province in western Iran.
The city is located among the Zagros Mountains and is known as the “Roof of Iran” due to its high altitude above sea level.
With its pristine nature, clear rivers, and lush plains, Shahrekord is one of the most important natural tourism destinations in Iran.
Culturally, Shahrekord is a meeting place for Persian and Bakhtiari cultures, and this diversity is clearly visible in the handicrafts, local music, and hospitality of its people.
The city’s economy is based on agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, and tourism, and in recent years, its regional role has become more prominent with the development of infrastructure and educational centers.
