Vahap Seçer, born in 1963, is a Turkish politician and current Mayor of Mersin. He has served as CHP Mersin Deputy for the 23rd and 24th terms between 2007 and 2015. He was elected as the Mayor of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality in 2019.

Located on the Mediterranean coast of southern Turkey, Mersin nestles Turkey’s largest seaport, playing a key role in the country’s economy. Mersin is also the site of Turkey’s first free zone and one of its largest oil refineries, all along a thriving agriculture industry.
Mersin is also considered an ancient human settlement, with excavations suggesting a history dating back to the 9th millennium BC.
