Dariush Barani Biranvand, who until now was the head of the municipality, has been appointed as the mayor of Khorramabad by a decree of "Ahmed Vahidi" the Minister of Interior. Barani took charge of Khorram Abad municipality from 30th of Bahman 1401 by electing nine members of the council, and Saeed Fatuhi was in charge of Khorram Abad municipal administration before him. He is the Deputy of Architecture and Urban Planning of Khorram Abad Municipality, the Mayor of Khorram Abad Regions 2 and 3, the Chairman of the Image and Landscape Committee, the Secretary of the Article Five Commission, and the technical and executive supervisor of Khorram Abad Municipality projects, including Barani's records.

Khorramabad is a city in the west of Iran and the capital of Lorestan province. According to the census of 2015, the population of Khorramabad was 373,416 people. The city is located at an altitude of 1147.8 meters above sea level and in the middle of the Zagros valleys. The distance between Khorramabad and Tehran is 490 km, and due to its location on the Tehran-South route, it has strategic and communication importance. Iran’s highway number five passes through this city.
