Kamalshahr is a city in Alborz Province, north-central Iran, located in Karaj County, near the metropolitan city of Karaj and the capital, Tehran. Its strategic location within the Tehran–Karaj urban corridor has contributed to its population growth and increasing importance as part of the province’s expanding urban region.

Kamalshahr was officially recognised as a city in 1996, following its development from the former settlement of Kamalabad. According to Iran’s 2016 national census, the city had a population of 141,669, although its population has continued to grow since then.
