Fuzhou or Fuzhou is the capital of Fujian Province and one of its largest cities in the People’s Republic of China. Fuzhou is located in Fujian province in southeast China and is a coastal city. Like other provincial-level cities in China, its administrative area includes urban and rural areas. In 2015, Fuzhou was ranked as the 10th fastest-growing metropolitan area in the world by the Brookings Institution. Fuzhou is listed as number 20 in the 2016 overall ranking of the China Integrated City Index, a study conducted by the National Development and Reform Commission. Fuzhou is also a major city for scientific research, appearing in the top 50 global cities tracked by the Nature Index.
