This assessment aims to evaluate, rank, and rate Asian Mayors Forum (AMF) member cities based on internationally recognized standards, frameworks, and best practices for sustainable urban development, with an integrated focus on smartness, resilience, and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance. It provides a consistent, evidence-based basis for benchmarking urban performance, identifying areas for improvement, supporting informed decision-making, and promoting knowledge exchange among member cities.
Cities are requested to provide the most recent official, reliable, and verifiable data required for the calculation of the assessment indicators, using the specified units and reference periods. The submitted data will be processed and analyzed in accordance with the assessment methodology to generate comparable results and determine the performance rating and ranking of participating cities.
To ensure that the assessment remains relevant and responsive to evolving urban priorities, the indicators and assessment framework will be periodically reviewed and updated in line with emerging international standards, evolving urban challenges, technological developments, ESG priorities, and the sustainable development needs of cities.

Asian Smart and Sustainable Cities Assessment, Ranking and Rating System
The assessment form consists of three sections: City Profile, Core Indicators, and Supporting Indicators, covering 19 urban development dimensions. The Core Indicators constitute the primary basis for the assessment, rating, and ranking of cities, while the Supporting Indicators complement the core indicators by providing additional information and a clearer, more comprehensive picture of each city’s characteristics, performance, and development context. 1.
