Mayor: Shin Sang-jin
Shin Sang-jin, born in 1956, has been the Mayor of Seongnam since 2022.
Previously, he served in the Korean National Assembly for four consecutive terms.
Seongnam is the 10th largest city in South Korea, located in northwestern part of the country, and is considered a satellite city of Seoul.
As a planned city, Seongnam emerged in 1973 to house electronic, textile, and petrochemical facilities. The city since then continued to develop along Seoul, merging with its metropolitan network.
Also an industrial hub, the city also features some historic monuments and relics.
