Smart Asian Cities

/Committees/Smart Asian Cities

Asian Smart Cities Committee envision a region where digital technology and intelligent design have been harnessed to create smart, sustainable Asian cities with high-quality living and high-quality jobs. To tap into the transformative power of smart technologies, Asian cities need a trusted, neutral advisor. AMF could provide that help with a network of leading municipalities and associated companies around the Asia. In this introduction, we also define what an Asian smart city is, explain the drivers behind the Asian smart cities movement and briefly touch on the potential barriers and strategies that can help Asian cities overcome them. The intended audience could be mayors, city managers, city planners of all types and their staffs. The intent is to provide Asian cities with objective, vendor-neutral information and recommendations that will help them make the right choices in planning and implementing their smart cities initiatives. Many cities around the Asia are working to achieve economic, environmental and social sustainability. Asian smart city best practices and technologies can be integrated with those existing efforts to support and enhance them.

We promote Asian cities that embody our three core values: Livability: Asian cities that provide clean, healthy living conditions without pollution and congestion, with a digital infrastructure that makes city services instantly and conveniently available anytime, anywhere. Workability: Asian cities that provide the enabling infrastructure for energy, connectivity, computing, essential services to compete globally for high-quality jobs. Sustainability: Asian cities that provide services without stealing from future generations.
The first goal is to give you a "vision" of an Asian smart city that will help you understand how technology will transform the cities of tomorrow. The second goal is to help you build the roadmap that will guide your city to the future you envision. It recommends goals you should aim for, best practices that will give you the results you desire with minimal cost and risk. It also encourages flexibility, from the earliest planning stages to completion and implementation — because that flexibility will give you the ability to integrate new technologies and respond quickly to changing citizen demands and needs.
