Asian Mayors Forum is an international non-governmental organization established at the initiative of Tehran Municipality and with support from the Asian Parliamentary Assembly. Its first official meeting took place in 2008, where more than 100 mayors and urban leaders from Asian cities gathered in Tehran. During more than a decade of its activity, the Forum has had an influential role in current trends of urban affairs and urban management in Asia. In addition to creating opportunities for development of cooperation and exchange of knowledge and experiences between mayors and city managers, it has held successful meetings and conferences, including six General Assembly meetings along with specialized panels and 9 executive board meetings sided with specialized sessions in various dimensions of urban management. This forum currently has more than 100 members among Asian cities. The motto of this forum “Asia for Citizens, integrity for Better Life”, is in line with its goal of expanding and promoting cooperation between the Asian cities, city managers and citizens.
